Collecting Airborne Particles
Collecting Airborne Particles
From collecting high volumes of air to quickly capture aerosolized particles for research, medical countermeasures, or to support an all-hazards response capability, high-velocity air samplers are a crucial tool for defense, security and health applications, both indoors and outdoors. When those particles are living organisms, maintaining their viability is very important. In other operational roles, continuous, low-volume sampling is required for forensic, tracking and baselining capability. Some applications need multiple sample gathering capability.
Amtech has worked with a broad and international team of aerosol collection specialists, refining technologies for use by military, civilian security, and health applications, with our work also contributing to leading-edge research and development in these areas. This collaborative approach has produced a line of highly-capable air sampler systems, each with specific capabilities related to a wide range of applications. Explore the aerosol collectors we offer below – then contact us to discuss how we can match your specific requirements.
Air Samplers
High Volume Military, XMX/2L-MIL: This air sampler was designed to meet the need for a weatherproof, outdoor aerosol collector, fully MILSPEC ruggedized and tested for military deployment. The XMX/2L-MIL is an aerosol separator, sample preparation, and high mass flow concentrator system, designed to process and collect large concentrations of aerosols in the respirable range in short periods of time. It is fielded with military and first responder organizations worldwide, including the US Air Force. Please contact us for further information.
High Volume Civilian, XMX/CV: This air sampler is a civilian version of Amtech’s field-proven XMX/2L-MIL collector, sharing its aerosol separator, sample preparation, and high mass flow concentrator system capabilities to process and collect large concentrations of aerosols in the respirable range. Deployed with first responder and public health oranizations around the world, the XMX-CV has seen operational duty at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in a mass gathering surveillance role, and in first responses to outbreaks of SARS and Avian Influenza. Please contact us for further information.
Low Volume, CSU-1: The CSU-1 responds to the operational need for a low-cost method of providing broad aerosol sampling coverage over a large region, collecting air samples into a dry filter cartridge at a flow rate of 10 litres per minute. Magnetic quick-mounting capability, optional independent power supply, and suitability for both indoor and outdoor applications makes the CSU-1 an ideal support tool for extended operations. Please contact us for further information.
Multi-Sample, XMX/102: This unit is a continuous-batch high volume air sampler, capable of collecting 102 samples in less than 20 minutes. Sample collection time is customizable for a range of applications. Featuring self-contained fluidics and a built-in decontamination cycle, the XMX/102 also provides sample collection in sterile 15ml BD Vacutainers for field collection and analysis purposes.
