Competition TECH2016-001 (Posted 31 October 2016) – Junior Systems Engineer / Instrumentation & Electrical Technologist (Military Engineering and Automation / Process Control):

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing engineering and technical support to a variety of Amtech’s military engineering, automation / process control, and aeronautical projects in Medicine Hat. The main duties include the following:

  • Work as part of a team on projects including robotic vehicles, hardware/software system integration, and field support with specialization in design and integration of instrumentation, control systems, electrical installations.
  • Prepare engineering / design drawings (wiring details, assemblies and installation drawings).
  • Liaison with clients and prospective clients.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineer or Instrumentation / Electrical Technologist with experience in control systems theory and electrical / instrumentation design.
  • Up to five years relevant engineering / technologist experience. Candidates with more experience may be considered. Experience in a consulting engineering company environment is an asset.
  • Basic experience / knowledge of PLC hardware and software programming.
  • Entry level experience in the design, programming, installation and commissioning of Building Management Systems including HVACR controls, energy management, lighting controls and automation.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and instrumentation installation drawings.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the electrical code is an asset.
  • Able to obtain and hold a government issued security clearance.
  • Registered with or able to be registered with the Alberta Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or with the Association of Science & Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET).

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing project management and technical support as part of a team to a variety of Amtech’s aeronautical engineering and certification projects in Calgary. It is also anticipated that some travel will occasionally be required. The main duties include the following:

  • Work independently (under general and specialist engineering supervision and direction) in the planning and conducting of Amtech’s engineering projects, with specialization in aircraft level structural and mechanical system design changes including integration and testing.
  • Conceptual design and preparation of complex CAD drawings (layout, assembly, fabrication details).
  • Perform structural and systems analyses as well as prepare engineering and compliance reports.
  • Liaison with Transport Canada aircraft certification and inspection personnel, clients, and suppliers.

It is also anticipated that some travel will occasionally be required. The main duties include the following:
